Invisalign marketing: capturing aligner demand within Align's rules

Invisalign marketing with real data: 74,000 monthly 'invisalign cost' searches, $26.29 clicks for 'invisalign near me', brand-use rules, pages and ads.

By Medfy Editorial TeamUpdated Facts verified 7 min read

Invisalign marketing starts with a simple fact: adults search for aligners by brand and by price, in very large numbers. Capturing that demand takes three things done well: pages that answer cost and candidacy honestly, ads that reach people comparing providers, and careful use of a name you don't own. This guide walks through each step, with real search data and the trademark rules most guides skip.

It applies to orthodontists and to general dentists who offer clear aligners. Where ethics rules differ for the two, we say so.

How aligner patients search: cost, 'near me' and comparisons

Aligner patients are mostly adults paying out of pocket. The AAO says 1 in 3 orthodontic patients today are adults (opens in a new tab) and that most dental plans don't cover adult orthodontics. Their searches move through three stages:

  1. Cost research: "invisalign cost," "how much is invisalign," "clear aligners cost."
  2. Provider search: "invisalign near me," "invisalign dentist near me," "orthodontist near me."
  3. Comparison: "invisalign vs braces," aligners from mail-order brands, reviews of local providers.

Some patients skip Google entirely. Align's annual report describes consumer marketing that directs patients to Invisalign-trained doctors, and its Doctor Locator (opens in a new tab) searches by ZIP code and patient age. Check that your practice's listing there is accurate.

Each stage needs a different page and, if you advertise, a different ad group. A patient at stage one isn't ready to book, but the practice that answers the cost question well is often the one they call at stage two.

Invisalign demand and click costs from Google

Search (US, monthly)SearchesAvg. CPC
invisalign cost74,000$10.03
invisalign near me60,500$26.29
clear aligners18,100$13.57

Google Ads Keyword Planner data via DataForSEO, US, 12-month average to Sep 2026. Bids for "invisalign near me" range from $5.10 to $34.05 a click.

The pattern: cost searches have the volume and cheap clicks; "near me" searches have the intent and expensive clicks. Organic cost pages should earn the first, and paid search can compete for the second.

For contrast, "invisalign marketing" itself gets about 70 searches a month at a $68.68 average CPC, more than double the top of the bid range above. That is what marketing vendors pay to reach practices like yours, which tells you how valuable an aligner patient is to the people selling to you. The same economics apply to other high-value elective cases; see high-value dental case marketing for how implant practices handle them.

Brand-name rules: Align's provider guidelines and Google's trademark policy

Invisalign is Align Technology's brand. Its annual report for 2025 (opens in a new tab) lists Invisalign among its trademarks and states that its aligners are sold to orthodontists and general dental practitioners. Align's website terms (opens in a new tab) state that no license to its trademarks is granted except as expressly stated.

Align's rules for providers

Align sets its own rules for how providers may use its name, logo and provider designations. We couldn't find a current version on a public Align page (checked October 2026), so before you publish:

  1. Ask your Align representative or check your Align doctor account for the current brand guidelines.
  2. Confirm which logos, badges and provider designations you may display, and that any status you show is current.
  3. Ask specifically about using "Invisalign" in a domain name, practice name or social handle, where the risk of implying affiliation is highest.
  4. Keep a copy of the version you followed, with the date.

Brand use on your website

On your own pages, describing a product you actually provide ("We offer Invisalign clear aligners") is the ordinary use most practices make. Use the name accurately, don't imply you are Align, and follow whatever symbol and attribution rules Align gives you.

Brand use in ad text

Google's trademark policy (opens in a new tab) works differently from your website. Google doesn't restrict trademarks used as keywords. It may restrict a trademark in ad text after the owner files a complaint, with exceptions such as landing pages primarily dedicated to selling the trademarked product, with clear purchase information. So you can usually bid on "invisalign near me," while whether "Invisalign" may appear in your headline depends on Align's complaints and Google's exceptions. Writing "clear aligners" in the headline avoids the question entirely.

This is general information, not legal advice. Confirm how it applies to your practice with a qualified advisor.

Pages: aligners vs braces, cost and candidacy

Build three pages, each aimed at one stage of the search. Our guide to aligner pages on your site covers the full site structure.

  1. Clear aligner treatment page. Explain how aligners work, citing the AAO: each aligner is typically worn for a week at a time, at least 22 hours a day (opens in a new tab), and aligners are not right for everyone. Name the brands you offer.
  2. Aligners vs braces page. The AAO notes that most orthodontic problems can be treated with braces (opens in a new tab) and that aligner suitability depends on the case. Compare comfort, visibility, wear discipline and visits, and say the consult decides.
  3. Aligner cost page. The AAO says cost depends on the type, complexity and duration of treatment (opens in a new tab). Explain those drivers, how insurance treats adult orthodontics, and your payment plans.

Keep clinical claims sourced and avoid promises about results or timing. Our guide to health claim rules covers substantiation in detail.

Illustrative example (fictional practice), outline of an aligner cost page for Lakeview Orthodontics:

  1. What affects the cost of clear aligners (complexity, length, refinements, retainers)
  2. What's included in our fee (records, scans, aligners, check-ups, first retainers)
  3. Insurance: how adult orthodontic benefits usually work and what we file
  4. Payment plans: down payment, monthly options, no-interest terms if offered
  5. Request a consult: a five-field form

Ads that compete with direct-to-consumer aligner brands

Align's 10-K also notes competition from direct-to-consumer (DTC) companies that sell aligners with little or no in-office care. Your ads compete with them for the same adults. The AAO's guidance on at-home orthodontics (opens in a new tab) highlights what DTC treatment can skip: an in-person exam, X-rays and supervision. That is your angle.

Steps for a campaign:

  1. Split ad groups by stage: cost, "near me" and brand terms.
  2. Send cost searches to the cost page and "near me" searches to the treatment page with a consult form.
  3. Lead with what your consult includes: an in-person exam, a scan, X-rays if needed and a written estimate.
  4. State payment plans, since DTC brands compete heavily on monthly price.
  5. Never name or disparage a DTC company. The ADA code says a claim that your services are superior must be subject to reasonable substantiation (Advisory Opinion 5.F.2).
  6. Run Meta ads to adults in your area with the same message; our overview of orthodontist ad options covers channel choice and the Google Ads guide covers account setup.

Illustrative example (fictional practice): "Clear aligners, planned in person. Exam, 3D scan and a written estimate at your first visit. Payment plans available. Lakeview Orthodontics."

Consults and follow-up for adult patients

Adults booking aligner consults are fitting it around work. Make it easy:

  1. Offer early, late or lunchtime consult slots, and say so on the page.
  2. Reply to every request the same business day, by the channel the patient chose.
  3. Tell them what to bring and how long the visit takes.
  4. Give a written estimate and payment options at the consult, so they can decide without a second visit.
  5. Follow up once or twice after the consult with a direct contact person, then stop.

If you offer virtual consults with photo uploads, those photos are patient information. The tool needs a BAA with your practice.

Tracking aligner consults to starts

Count three things for aligner campaigns separately from braces: consult requests, consults held and starts. Add consults held and starts from your practice software each month by source; ad platforms should never receive patient details.

Common Invisalign marketing mistakes

  • Sending aligner ads to the homepage instead of an aligner page.
  • Using Align logos or provider badges without checking the current rules.
  • Promising treatment times or results ("perfect smile in six months").
  • A "starting at" price almost no patient pays.
  • Bidding only on brand terms and ignoring "clear aligners."
  • Ad pixels on consult forms.

Where Medfy fits

Medfy's rebuilt website gives aligners their own service page, part of the $349/month base plan. Google Ads management ($199/month) runs daily optimization inside guardrails you set, and every change is logged and reversible. Meta ads + AI creatives ($199/month) produces on-brand static ads with copy written for healthcare ad policies, and tests them. Ad spend is paid directly to the platforms, never marked up, and first-party analytics show calls, forms and bookings by source. Frequently asked questions

Can I use the Invisalign name in my ads?

Often, with care. Google doesn't restrict trademarks used as keywords, but it may restrict "Invisalign" in ad text after Align files a complaint, subject to exceptions. Align also sets its own rules for provider use of its name and logo, which you should get from Align before publishing. Writing "clear aligners" in headlines avoids most trademark problems.

How do I market Invisalign to adults?

Answer the cost question first, with a page that explains what drives aligner fees and your payment plans. Then compete for "invisalign near me" searches with ads that lead to a dedicated aligner page and a short consult form. Stress the in-person exam and monitoring that mail-order brands skip, offer convenient consult times, and reply to requests the same day.

Should I advertise Invisalign prices?

You don't have to, but you should explain cost, because "invisalign cost" is searched about 74,000 times a month in the US. Describe what drives the fee, what your fee includes and your payment options. If you publish a range, use your own current fees and avoid a "starting at" figure that few patients pay. Check your state's rules on advertised fees.
