AI marketing for concierge medicine: what helps and what to avoid

AI marketing for concierge and DPC practices: how patients use AI assistants, membership pricing, long nurture, and which AI tools are HIPAA-safe.

By Medfy Editorial TeamUpdated Facts verified 8 min read

AI marketing for concierge medicine is less about reaching more people and more about being described correctly. A membership is a considered purchase, and prospective members now ask AI assistants the questions they used to save for a first call: What does a concierge doctor cost here? Do they take Medicare? Is direct primary care the same thing? If the answer an assistant gives is wrong, you may never hear from that person.

In short: AI marketing for a concierge or DPC practice means being described accurately in AI answers, especially your fee and model; drafting membership content faster; and supporting a decision that takes weeks without exposing patient information. Publish your own price, keep inquiries out of tools without a BAA, and keep pricing decisions and health conversations human.

What AI marketing means for a concierge doctor practice

Three jobs, in order of value:

  1. Accuracy in AI answers. Make sure assistants describe your model, fee, inclusions and Medicare status correctly.
  2. Drafting. Use AI for first drafts of membership pages, FAQ answers, event invitations and ad variants, which a physician then edits.
  3. Supporting a long decision. Answer practical questions at any hour and keep inquiries from going cold, without exposing patient information.

AI marketing for concierge medicine: small, early demand

Searches for "ai marketing for concierge medicine" and similar phrases fall below Keyword Planner's reporting floor. Demand from owners is small and early. Patient demand is not:

Search (US, monthly)VolumeAvg. CPC
concierge doctor near me12,100$8.15
direct primary care near me12,100$4.22

Google Ads Keyword Planner data via DataForSEO, US, 12-month average to Sep 2026.

Some of those searchers will continue the conversation in an AI assistant. For the wider picture across specialties, see AI marketing for medical practices.

How patients use ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews to choose a concierge doctor

Prospective members, or adult children researching for a parent, might ask questions like these, combining price, place and fit.

Illustrative example (prompts a prospective member might type):

  • "Who are the concierge doctors in Scottsdale, and what do they charge per year?"
  • "Is there a direct primary care practice near Boise that sees kids and costs under $100 a month?"
  • "Do concierge doctors in Naples still accept Medicare?"
  • "What's the difference between concierge medicine and DPC, and which practices near Charlotte offer each?"

Assistants answer from what they can find and read: practice websites, Google listings, directories such as DPC Frontier's mapper, and reviews. A practice that states its model, fee, inclusions, Medicare status and towns served gives them accurate material to work with. No one can promise an assistant will name a particular practice. Our guide to AI visibility for practices explains how these answers are assembled.

To see what assistants say about you now, run the free AI visibility check in Medfy's audit. It asks Claude and Gemini, with live web search, whether they name your practice, and checks whether the crawlers behind ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini can read your site.

Membership value questions in AI answers

"Is concierge medicine worth it?" gets a generic list of pros and cons from an assistant. Your pages should answer the specific version: worth it here, with this doctor, at this price.

  • Define access in numbers you can keep: how quickly you return messages, how soon a visit is available, how long visits last.
  • State your model in one sentence on every key page. Assistants mix up concierge and DPC easily when a site uses both terms loosely.
  • Publish your Medicare status. Medicare.gov explains the difference between participating, non-participating and opt-out (opens in a new tab) physicians; an opted-out physician's services aren't paid by Medicare "even if it's a Medicare-covered service." Say which you are.
  • Skip claims you can't prove. An assistant may repeat "members save thousands a year" from your site as fact. The FTC says advertisers need evidence for claims "before the ad runs" (FTC advertising FAQ (opens in a new tab)).

Pricing transparency: concierge vs direct primary care

AI answers can quote stale or invented membership fees, pulled from an old page, a press article or a different practice. The fix is simple: publish your own fee in plain text (not only inside an image or PDF), with the date you last updated it, and make your Google listing and directories match.

Spell out which model you run. DPC Frontier's definition (opens in a new tab) of DPC is a practice that charges a "periodic fee," doesn't bill third parties on a "fee for service basis," and keeps per-visit charges below one month's fee. A concierge practice may still bill insurance or Medicare.

The difference now matters for HSAs, and older AI answers may not know it. IRS Notice 2026-5 (opens in a new tab) says that from 2026, a qualifying DPC arrangement, meaning primary care only, paid solely by a fixed periodic fee of no more than $150 a month for one person ($300 for more), no longer blocks HSA contributions. An arrangement that bills members' services through insurance doesn't qualify. State your own status plainly, checked with your advisor. Our direct primary care marketing guide covers the details.

A long decision: AI-assisted nurture that stays HIPAA-safe

Joining a membership practice can take weeks: an inquiry, a call, a meet-the-doctor evening, a conversation at home, then the agreement. AI can make each step easier without touching patient information:

  • Drafting a "how membership works" guide and the answers to the ten questions your staff hear most.
  • Writing event invitations and talk outlines.
  • Suggesting a call-back script for the front desk.
  • Summarizing patterns in aggregate, such as which questions came up most this month.

The line is patient information. Once a prospective member tells your practice about their health, that inquiry needs HIPAA protection. Don't paste it into a consumer AI tool to draft a reply, and make sure any chat widget answering fee and membership questions at night is covered by a business associate agreement (BAA). Your concierge marketing plan should name who follows up with each inquiry and when.

Which AI tools are safe with patient information

Consumer AI chat accounts aren't covered by a BAA. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Microsoft offer BAAs only for specific business products, each with conditions. As their own pages read on October 22, 2026:

VendorOfficial position
AnthropicA BAA (opens in a new tab) for commercial products such as the first-party API and Enterprise plans, after an owner activates HIPAA settings; some features are excluded

How Medfy uses AI for concierge medicine

Medfy is AI marketing software for independent practices, built HIPAA-compliant by design. The $349/month base plan includes:

  • Your website, rebuilt and hosted on your own domain, with membership, pricing and service pages and HIPAA-compliant forms.
  • Automated SEO: researched articles every week, drafted from MedlinePlus and PubMed, which you approve or set to auto-publish.
  • AI visibility tracking: every week Medfy asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews the questions prospective members ask, and shows whether they name you and who they name instead.
  • First-party analytics, including visits from AI assistants, and the AI CMO dashboard with leads by source and a weekly brief by email.
  • A patient CRM and inbox for membership inquiries, with patient information in separate, encrypted HIPAA databases in the US or Canada.

Add-ons: Google Ads management ($199/month), Meta ads with AI creatives ($199/month) and a HIPAA AI chat widget ($49/month) that answers from your practice's own information, captures inquiries into the CRM and hands off to your team, covered by your BAA. Ad spend goes directly to Google and Meta, never marked up. Billing is monthly, and you can cancel anytime. Medfy doesn't answer phones, send email or text campaigns, request reviews or post to social media. If you're still planning the model, start with starting a concierge practice.

Frequently asked questions

How can concierge practices use AI in marketing?

Use it to draft and check, then edit as the physician. AI can draft membership pages, FAQ answers, event invitations and ad variations, and track whether assistants like ChatGPT describe your practice and fee correctly. Keep patient information out of tools without a business associate agreement, and keep the transition letter, pricing decisions and conversations about a patient's health human.

Does ChatGPT recommend concierge doctors?

It can when someone asks, but no one can promise it will name your practice. Assistants build answers from what they can find: practice websites, Google listings, directories and reviews. A site that states your model, fee, what's included, Medicare status and towns served gives them accurate material. Check what assistants say about you now, including the fee they quote.

Can AI explain membership pricing to patients?

Yes, if it answers from your published information. A chat widget on your own site can explain your fee, inclusions and how membership relates to insurance, provided its answers come from your pages and it hands off anything clinical. General AI assistants may quote stale or invented fees, so publish your price in plain text with an updated date and keep listings consistent.

Is AI follow-up with prospective members HIPAA compliant?

It can be, with the right setup. Once a prospective member tells your practice about their health, that information needs HIPAA protection. Any AI tool that stores or processes it must be covered by a business associate agreement, and consumer chat accounts aren't. Keep automated follow-up to scheduling and membership details, and let staff handle anything clinical.
